Wedding Speech – how to give a speech to remember!

Giving a speech at a wedding? Here’s some tips for you!

  • The best thing to do is try not to be worried. Think positively.
  • Your speech will be a huge success and you will wonder why you were so
    concerned!
  • This is a busy time, but any chance you get, practice, until you are so
familiar with your speech, you know what’s coming next. The more you
practice, the less nervous you will be!
  • Practice the pauses, places where emphasis is required etc.
  • By showing you’ve put even a little thought and effort into what you’re
saying, all manner of sins will be forgiven!
  • On the day, don’t over indulge! Although it’s tempting to down a few scoops
while waiting to speak, don’t! Being tipsy could affect your delivery by
making you slur your words and could cause you to be unsteady on your
    feet!
  • Remember! The audience is on your side! You’ll be able to use their
    goodwill to boost your confidence.
  • It’s a good idea to memorise the first paragraph of your speech and it’s
perfectly acceptable to read the rest from a script. This will give you
confidence and will ensure that nothing is left out.
  • If there is a microphone provided, make sure beforehand, that you know how
to use it and that it is working.
  • Before you begin, take several deep breaths.
  • Remember to pause in your speech to emphasise a point or to make room for
a reaction to a joke or story.

My experience of weddings is that […]

Alternative Weddings Ireland – In the beginning…

In 2016 a group of celebrants who trained with the IIOC came together as friends and colleagues to create a website through which we could promote ourselves to couples who were planning their wedding. An eclectic bunch, we are from all parts of Ireland and all walks of life. We are united by our common standard of professionalism, joined in our passion for what we do and driven by our common goal – to design and deliver a ceremony for couples which makes their wedding day something out of the ordinary.

The Bridal Countdown – what to do in the final hours before saying I Do

It’s less than 24hrs to your big day and usually for brides, it’s both the best day and more stressful day of your life; stressful as it’s not something you to do very often, but also have put a lot of time, effort & money into making it your special day, so no pressure! Even […]
